Caption Contest Rules

Each month on CapContest.com a cartoon is displayed. The challenge is to come up with the best caption for the cartoon. We're glad you're interested in playing. We want to make this contest fun for you! In case you want to know them, these are the boring rules. They are the same every month, but the cash prize may vary (see below).

Each new contest begins on the first day of the new month and ends at 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time on the last day of the month. For the current contest deadline, please refer to the contest page on CapContest.com. This is a contest where you have to use your skills. It is not a sweepstakes or a lottery. You don’t have to buy anything to play. In fact, we don’t even sell anything. This contest is strictly for our amusement and yours. Make us laugh.

How to Enter: To enter, you have to fill in five fields on the online form along with your caption and make sure we receive your entry by the deadline for the contest you are entering. Enter your first name, last name, email address and age. It is up to you to make sure the information is accurate. You’ve filled out forms on the web before, so you know the drill! Refer to our Privacy Policy to find out how we protect your personal information. There is a box to let us know if you want to be notified when a new contest begins. If you check the box you will be emailed only once per month. You can unsubscribe at any time by sending us an email at with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.

Entry: Each caption you enter becomes the property of CapContest.com when we receive it. We may not acknowledge your entry and will not return your entry.

Eligibility: To keep it fair, there can only be one entry per person. Any U.S. resident age 18 or over can enter. If you’re mean, we’d prefer if you didn’t play; but we can’t stop you. If you are a friend or relative of anyone on the judging panel (and you know who you are), that is cheating – don’t do it. Each caption you enter becomes the property of CapContest.com when we receive it. We may not acknowledge your entry and we will not return your entry.

Deadlines: There is a new contest each month. That means that you have to get your entry to us by the deadline and comply with the rules before the next contest begins. Each contest begins on the first day of the new month and ends at 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time on the last day of that month. For the current contest deadline, please refer to the contest page on CapContest.com.

Of course, entries that we don’t get because of any kind of technology error won’t be eligible. But you knew that. If we don’t receive an entry, we can’t judge it. Why do we have to write this stuff? We reserve the right and sole discretion to disqualify you if you mess with our website or break any of our rules. We also reserve the right to cancel or change the caption contest at any time.

The name of the contest winner will be shown with the cartoon on the CapContest.com website. Please don't enter if you don't want your name posted on the site. To the victor go the spoils, glory and all. The winner will be selected from a panel comprised of CapContest.com staff and our associates (only those with a good sense of humor). In the event two of you come up with an identical, winning caption, we will choose the winner by drawing out of a hat. It's very scientific. All decisions of the panel are final.

How to Win: Do we need to say that the winner is the person whose caption we like best out of the people who followed the rules? The winner will be selected from a panel comprised of CapContest.com staff and our associates (only those with a good sense of humor). We will pick the winner within two weeks of the contest end date. If two of you come up with an identical, winning caption, we will choose the winner by drawing out of a hat. All decisions of the panel are final.

Qualified Winner: The qualified winner (entrant who didn’t cheat, is a U.S. citizen, and is at least eighteen-years old) will receive a cash prize, so long as the qualified winner completes an affidavit for us (see below), can confirm eligibility and agrees to allow his or her name to be shown with the cartoon on the CapContest.com website. Please don’t enter if you don’t want your name posted on the site. To the victor go the spoils, glory and all.

Prize: The amount of the cash prize varies from month to month. By cash, we mean we will send you a money order. The cash prize is not transferrable. There are no substitutions for the cold hard cash except by CapContest.com. The amount of the cash prize for each contest is posted along with the new cartoon on Capcontest.com each month. If you win, you are solely responsible for income and other taxes that your state or our federal government may require.

After you Win: We’ll contact you via the email address you supplied to us to find out where to send the affidavit you need to complete in order to get your check. If you are no longer at that email address, you need to contact us. Otherwise, we’ll send you 3 emails over the course of two weeks after the date we pick the winner. If we do not hear back from you within that time period, you will no longer be qualified and we’ll award the prize to the next best entrant.

Laws: This contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations that may apply. It is void where prohibited and outside of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.

Affidavit: If you win, acceptance of the prize constitutes consent for us to use your name, likeness and winning entry for editorial, advertising, commercial and publicity purposes without further compensation. We will send you an affidavit of eligibility; consent to use your name, copyright transfer, release from liability and indemnification form. You must sign and return the affidavit to us within two weeks of our contacting you with it or we will pick an alternate winner. Within 2 weeks of our receiving the affidavit, we will send you your cash prize.

Release from Liability: You agree by participating in this contest, that on behalf of you, your heirs, executors and administrators, you release and hold harmless the sponsor of this contest, the sponsor’s affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agent and advisory from and against any liability for any and all claims, demands, losses and liabilities involving death, injury, loss of enjoyment, property damage or other harm of loss of any nature, related to your participation in this contest or the prize. new.

List of Winners: The names of all winners will be posted on our website within thirty (30) days after they are determined to be qualified to be sent the prize.
